Arkham origins is the 3rd instalment of the Arkham origins and it is a prequel to the original story. It makes the story of the batman a lot deeper really getting the player involved in the character almost making them feel sorry for him at times. they show his loneliness and how much he treats his butler as family due to him being all he has, the character building of the main characters are really explored and hinted at in little things they say and do along with things being hidden around the newer larger map of gotham which is littered with Easter eggs. Throughout the game you'll encounter lots of famous batman enemies such as The Riddeler and even The Joker. the game is about batman trying to stop a hit that's been put on his head from the villain black mask. he has selected 8 of the best assassins that gothem has to offer to kill the batman in one night. Christmas eve. you play as the batman going around the city trying to stop black mask and all 8 hired assassins including deadshot and deathstroke.
This game came out late 2009. it had a lot higher budget then the other 2 games and had a lot more features and advertisements for it so people were really excited for the gam a long time before its initial release day which for some just got them excited for something that led to disappointment. The game is a AAA game that appeared to have used its money on making the multiplayer mode when what they should have done is make the gameplay better. It had an unessasery multiplayer mode that is only there because it can be. There is no need for it in a batman game and it was not thought out and worked on enough to make it "a thing" it has a good balancing fo the teams however. You can either play as batman or robin along with all there gadgets to help you remain hidden as you one by one take out your unsuspecting victims on one team or play as either a member of Baynes or the Jokers gang including both the joker and bayn themselves who use guns to make the balancing fairer.
The point of the game appears to purely be to inform you about the backstory of the people in the previous games, the story itself is not great. It seems to be there just so you can play something (similarly to games such as Just Cause 2 and Watchdogs) while the game shoves the same old gameplay mechanics at you from the previous games but with more gadgets that are basically the same as old ones but bigger, have no purpose other than to show that batman has a new toy. the old batman Arkham games have had some bad revues about the difficulty so it feels like they made the boss fights to hard as a way to make up for the previous games. for example the 3rd boss battle of the game is up against a well known batman/ DC villain known as deathstroke. I assumed I was alone in finding tis fight way to hard and it took me a good few attempts to beat him but after googling it after I beat him I found that a lot of other people are saying the same, this game feels like its trying to hard to be something not and is not meant to be. its trying to be a big open world game with a multiplayer mode but again; batman games don't need multiplayer and big maps are not great in batman games. Arkham origins is very clever by making the map small but having it change a lot over time to make it seem different after key events happen and I feel that Arkham origins needed to do something like this and have a smaller map. although they added a fast travel mechanic into it which is actually good and very useful for you unlike the other new things they added such as the pointless gadget you steal of death stroke. The Arkham series has become well known for having a great atmosphere and its nice to see they kept that up in the new one, origins. As usual they have the same kind of colour scheme: the contrast of the blues and blacks mixed with the reds and oranges of the fire and lights, this game does not disappoint in the emersion, you'll find yourself well and truly lost in the experience of flying around looking for the next gang member to beat up from out of the sky or following the fire and lights as a good indication that your still on track as its easy to get lost with the minimal HUD. Which I actually like and makes the game that much more immersive.
You'll find yourself lost in the darkened city of Gothem a lot but at least you'll be able to appreciate the games texturing and graphics while u find a way to that next riddler trophy. they games graphics, FPS and textures are very impressive for the year it came it, from the breath in the frosty air or the lighting of the Christmas tress that litter the area, it is a very pretty game. even the physics of the bats cape have been improved so It cant go threw you as you turn around or jump.

As usual both the sound and voice acting in the game is great and especially the joker who is a witty and sarcastic as ever. The sounds are really eerie and spooky around the map and you can hear the soft sound of Christmas carols and songs being played in the background of a lot of the game, this really makes you fee almost uneasy about wondering about the, mostly abandoned, city of Gotham.
the game as a whole is good and a lot of fun for any previous batman fan however I would not recommend to anyone who is not a previous DC fan because a lot of the story evolves the player knowing at least a small amount about either batman or the DC universe. it has a lot of both good and bad new mechanics in it, a lot of the game feels like it was done because it could be and for no other reason other than to make it feel like you would have more for your money but id prefer if they just cut out a lot of the things in the game you don't need such as multiplayer mode and the 11 gadgets that mostly do the same thing and concentrated on more of the story.
